Exploring entertainment games and characterisation

In this section of the unit, you will also be asked to discuss a game of your choice and focus on your character and the ways in which characters are created and act within the entertainment games genre.
You will be asked to think about characterisation in an entertainment computer game they you already play outside of school. This may be online games such as World of Warcraft (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/ for a free 10-day trial), Teen Secondlife (http://teen.secondlife.com/), Guildwars (http://www.guildwars.com/), Runescape (http://www.runescape.com/), etc., console games on Wii, Playstation, X-Box or mobile (handheld games) on the Sony PSP, GP2X, Nintendo DS, etc., or games you play on their mobile phones.

Answer the following questions about one or two of the games you play on a regular basis:

• Name one or two computer games you play regularly. Briefly describe where, when, who you play with and for how long. • What game are you best at? Would you consider yourself to be an expert on any game? Why?
  
• Are there games you want to play that you can’t? Are there consoles that you want that you don’t have? Is your Internet connection fast enough? How do you know these better games exist?
  
• Would you like it if there were more people you could play games with? What games?
